Guest blogging has been around since blogs first emerged, and more recently the concept of virtual book tours has really taken off. I wanted to take a moment and share with you ‘the W’s’ of guest blogging and virtual book tours.
Who: Who should go on a virtual book tour?
Authors who are looking to gain more exposure for themselves or their work.
What: What content should you provide?
The sky is the limit! You can write a post, record a video, share an excerpt from one of your books…
Where: Where should you look for tour stops? Or Which blogs should you visit?
This will depend a lot on your niche. You want to visit popular blogs that have readers similar to your own.
Why: Why should you go on a virtual book tour?
To gain more exposure! You can boost your sales, drive traffic to your own site, and engage your readers while making new fans. Why wouldn’t you go on a virtual book tour?
When: When should an author go on tour?
This is totally up to you. You can go on tour to announce the release of your latest book, or just to mix things up and give you a break from writing your book, renew your passion! You can drum up the excitement for your book before it’s released, or get more exposure for it 3 years later.
How: How do you go about putting the whole thing together?
Many people have put together tutorials to answer that question, because it takes a ton of work! One of my favorite resources is “A Step-by-Step Guide to Guest Blogging” by Self Publishing Coach, Shelley Hitz. The best part is that it only costs $10 and you get her step by step guide, planning calendar, action plan, checklist, and templates to use. You can find it at: Guest Blogging
